Installing a Chap
Installing a Chap depends slightly on the Chap itself. In most cases, however, the Chap simply replaces the old Sensor of your car. There is usually no need for extra cables as the Chap runs of the power of the old sensor and of course, your original gauge will work as it did before.
All Chaps are designed for negative chassis. If your car is chassis positive, please contact us. It's easily changed but please don't simply use a device from the beta-tester shop as they will break.
Installing the Gateway
The Gateway is IP54 certified and water and dust resistant. We still recommend to mount it inside your car. It only needs to be connected to ground and positive (6V to 24V) and you are ready to go.
The Gateway has two latches to easily fix it anywhere. You will usually not need to get to it as all connections and updates are made other the air.
The Gateway boots up in less than two seconds so connecting it to ignition positive is a good option. If you choose to connect it to permanent power, please be advised that it will drain about 50mA and can have a negative effect on your battery charge after several weeks of not moving the car.
